AFC Aldermaston warmed up for their first ever appearance in the FA Vase this Saturday, with a superb 4-0 win over visiting Chinnor in the Hellenic League Division One East.

Wessex League Division One side Romsey visit the Rec Soc with a home tie against Bournemouth Poppies the reward for the winners.

Last Saturday’s game saw both teams go into the match with patchy form from their first few games of the season, with AFC looking to get their first points from the game.

The home side looked edgy and lacking in confidence for most of the first half, as both teams made several chances with Chinnor having the better and probably felt unlucky not to be leading at the break.

The second half was a very different matter, as a half time after a great team talk at the break, had the desired effect.

Aldermaston came out all guns blazing and put four goals past Chinnor to seal and emphatic win and bring home the 3 points.

Kai Parton Edy opened the proceedings on 54 minutes with a smart shot with the outside of his left foot after some good link up play with Chase Jewell.

This settled AFC nerves, and they went further ahead on 59 minutes when Dan Alliston rounded the keeper to score, to make it 2-0.

The home side were well on top now as Chinnor tired during the final quarter.

Goal number three was scored by Jewel following a good left wing run from Karl Hanks, who put a pin point cross across the goal to an incoming Liam Tackley. His sweet half volley rebounded of the foot of the post straight to the feet of Jewell who wasted no time in putting the ball into the net.

The final goal arrived on 90 minutes, when after some good defensive work by Stephen Blunt, the ball was played out wide by Jewell, who then found Hanks out wide left.

Hanks beat the defender and cut inside to score with a neat right foot shot across the goal into the far corner.
