HARTLEY Wintney have a massive home game on Saturday, when Southern League Division One East leaders AFC Rushden and Diamonds.

The Row fifth in the table will be looking to get something out of the game to keep themselves in the play-off picture.

Looking ahead to the game joint manager Danny Brownlie said: “It’ll be up there as one of the biggest games of the season for sure. It’s a relative formality that Rushden will be crowned champions in a few weeks time.

“Obviously we’ll be doing our best to delay that coronation on Saturday.

“It adds an extra spice because of sheer size of a club like Rushden & Diamonds - but that’s why you work so hard to get promoted, to play in games like this.”

Brownlie added: “That said, like any game it will only offer us a maximum of three points - with little under ten games to go and it being so tight at the top - each and every three points is worth the world.

“We’re the underdogs going into this game, a label that I’ve always enjoyed working with and an opportunity that I’m sure the boys will relish.”

On Tuesday night, the Row are at home against against Aylesbury.

Last Saturday, Hartley drew on the south coast against fellow contenders Moneyfields 2-2.

The visitors took the lead after 14 minutes as Dean Stow’s flag kick saw Steven Duff head powerfully into the net from 12 yards out, but by half-time Sam Pearce made it 1-1.

Hartley regained the lead on 55 minutes with a goal of quality. Louie Paget started the move with a good pass to Duff who made good progress down the left wing.

His cross to the back post found Nic Ciardini who headed down into the path of Paul Hodges who chested down and fired into the net.

However, the home side were not to be denied as Steve Hutchings scored an equaliser.
