CAPTAIN fantastic Sam Argent scored a hat-trick as Hartley Wintney moved up to second in the Southern League Division One East, after they beat visiting Hanwell Town 5-1.
The skipper took just 18 minutes to open his account and then added a second three minutes later.
In a superb first half, fellow striker Paul Hodges added Hartley’s third, before Hanwell pulled a goal back from a Michael Buckley penalty.
However, Hartley were not finished as Adam Everiss scored to make it 4-1 at the break.
Just a minute after the restart, Argent completed his hat-trick to make sure the points were safe.
After the game, Hartley joint manager Daniel Brownlie said: “There was a spell of 30 minutes where we were simply scintillating, ruthless in both defence and attack. Whilst we were a little disappointed with the second half, the work was done in the first half.
“Monday is going to be a real test at Marlow as they are a good, organised and well drilled side. It's going to be tough, but as always, we will do our best.”
