CHAMPIONS Hartley Wintney moved on to 101 points for their Combined Counties League Premier Division campaign after a 2-1 win over visiting Windsor on Tuesday night.

Windsor sportingly applauded Hartley onto the pitch as champions for the second successive season.

The home side then took barely a minute to take the lead.

Young Windsor goalkeeper Henry Poole did well to parry an effort from Andre Williams for a corner.

Dean Stow’s low delivery found Liam Eagle who blasted his shot on the half volley into the roof of the net from 15 yards.

Hartley probed for the remainder of the first half but without creating a worthwhile chance.

The nearest they came to scoring was an effort from Luke Perkins on 12 minutes which went just past the post.

Windsor pulled level on the stroke of half time.

A long cross from the left looked like going harmlessly for a goal kick. However, Gus Bowles refused to give up and kept the ball in play before feeding Riccardo Cannon who shot home from 10 yards.

Hartley restored their lead on 51 minutes following a through pass from Ian Jones.

The ball arrived at Andre Williams who ran on and scored past the outrushing Poole.

The Row almost extended their lead on 55 minutes; being denied by smart goalkeeping from Poole.

First he pushed a goal bound header from Shane Hollomby around the post Then from the resulting corner by Stow he did well to save a powerful header from Liam Eagle.

Windsor made a late rally and on 82 minutes a powerful shot from a difficult angle by Kieran Knight was pushed over by Paul Strudley.

Hartley held on to record league win number 32 from 40 matches played.

Joint manager Daniel Brownlie said: "It was a good win in the end although there were times where I felt we were going through the motions. "Whilst we can enjoy the freedom that being crowned champions at this early stage allows, we also owe to the league, the club, our supporters but most of all ourselves to see this campaign out properly.

The Row travel to Guildford on Saturday and are then in on Tuesday they travel to Camberley for an Aldershot Senior Cup semi-final clash.

Brownlie added: "We are all really looking forward to the game away at Camberley. With it being a semi-final it adds and extra spice into an already hot game. The reality is this could be a pre season friendly and both teams would be doing all they can to win the game - it's just one of those battles.

"We want to finish this season on a real high with two medals round our neck."
