HARTLEY Wintney kept themselves on track for the treble, as they booked a place in the last four of the Andover Senior Cup, after a 3-0 victory over Knaphill.

The home side took an early firm grip on the tie with two goals in the first six minutes. On four minutes, Hartley were awarded a free kick on the left.

With most expecting a cross, Dean Stow elected for a shot to the near post which deceived the Knappers' goalie.

Two minutes later, the Row added a quality goal. Jack French sent an inch perfect pass into the path of Steven Duff on the left wing.

The winger played a ball across the penalty box for the incoming Sam Argent to fire home.

The Row were dealt a blow when Shane Hollomby left the field with a nasty looking injury. The subsequent re-shuffle saw the Row lose their early fluency.

The game became very open and the Knappers created a few chances with Robbie Kersley shooting wide after a good run from midfield.

Charlie Pottance also had an effort which tested Paul Strudley. Pottance then had a good chance after a pass from Kersley but shot wide when well placed.

Hartley also recorded efforts from Argent and French which both went wide.

Ross Cook created a chance for himself but his parting effort went across the face of the goal.

Good link up play between Cook and Duff created a chance for Argent but Harris in the Knappers goal was well positioned to save.

Approaching half time, Strudley tipped over a shot from Collins.

Hartley added a third goal on 53 minutes. Stow sent a pass down the right wing which was picked up by Argent.

The striker delivered an accurate cross which was headed home by Cook despite the best efforts from goalie Harris to keep it out.

On 61 minutes, a French cross found Argent who tried a spectacular volley, which went just past the post.

Talking after the game, joint manager Daniel Brownlie said: "It was a great win. We started really well, playing some blistering attacking football in the opening exchanges where we grabbed a two nil lead.

"From there, in truth we were pretty comfortable. We took our foot off the gas a little towards the end of the first half but picked up the pace again in the second.

"Knaphill are a good side with a very good manager in Keith Hills, a really classy guy, but we are just pleased to have got the win."

Next up for Hartley is a trip to Hounslow and Brownlie said: "Saturday is going to be interesting. Hounslow are a relatively unknown quantity although we know they have plenty of pace so we'll have to ensure we deal with that.

"That said, like any game this season if we focus on ourselves and everyone plays their role, we have every right to be confident going into the game, but make no mistake, we will have to work for it."
