WHITCHURCH United slumped to a 4-1 defeat at home to struggling Bournemouth Poppies at Longmeadow on Saturday.

Jim Macey’s men have been struggling with a heavy fixture schedule of late and found themselves a goal down at half-time, while two further goals put the visitors 3-0 up in the second period.

Nic Turpin got the home side back in contention with a goal 10 minutes from time, but Bournemouth added a late fourth to run out easy winners.

Whitchurch, who are now 10th in the Wessex League Premier Division table, are back in action tomorrow night, travelling to league leaders Alresford in the semi-finals of the North Hants Senior Cup.
