TADLEY Calleva maintained their good form in Wessex League Division One with a 3-1 win away at Pewsey Vale last night.

There were no goals in an even first half, but both sides had chances to open the scoring. Tadley’s Brett Denham was denied by the home goalkeeper on three occasions, while visiting shot-stopper Luke Parker-Hodds also made a couple of important stops.

Tadley were on top after the break but were unable to find the net and actually went behind on 65 minutes, a throw-in leading to a header looping over Parker-Hodds.

However, the visitors found a response straight from the kick-off, a lovely move leading to Denham slotting home.

Tadley took the lead with 15 minutes to go, substitute James Tennant squaring for Callum Bush to fire past the goalkeeper, while Tennant completed the scoring on 85 minutes, converting Denham’s cross.

The result leaves the Barlow’s Park side seventh in the table, level on points with sixth-placed Pewsey Vale ahead of a home game with Hamworthy United on Saturday.

Tadley manager Danny Dolan said: “It was a wonderful win. We are on a bit of a roll at the moment and are back in with a chance of finishing in the top six, which is where we want to be.”
