TADLEY Calleva returned from an enforced two-month break with a good 2-1 win over visiting Ringwood Town at Barlow’s Park.

Danny Dolan’s men had last played on December 28, beating Ringwood 2-0, and it was the same side that they met on their return to Wessex League Division One action on Saturday.

The hosts dominated throughout, with Brett Denham failing to make the most of three clear chances before Tol Sotonye put them ahead, snaffling the rebound after Denham had seen his effort saved by the visiting goalkeeper.

However, Ringwood pulled level before half-time as Tadley goalkeeper Darren Maunder was unable to hold a free-kick and the rebound was fired into the net.

The home side had several chances to regain the lead early in the second half, but Denham, Sotonye and James Milford all failed to take them.

It looked like it may be a frustrating day for Dolan’s men, but they got what proved to be the winner on the hour mark, Mario Nurse finding the top corner with a fantastic strike from 30 yards.

Manager Dolan said: “The final score flattered them. They only had one shot and I was pretty pleased with our performance, considering we had not played for two months.”

Tadley, who sit seventh in the table, are back in action again tonight, making the short trip to struggling Andover New Street.

“We will go there looking for three points but I expect the pitch to be awful, which will not suit the way we are trying to play,” Dolan added.
