READING snapped their winless start to the Championship with an excellent 3-1 victory at Brentford which moved them up to 13th in the table.

The Royals took 17 minutes to take the lead as Orlando Sa scored with a header and by half-time Nick Blackman had added a second with a free-kick from 25-yards out.

Brentford goalie David Button did well to keep the score down in the first 45 minutes with a string of excellent saves as Stephen Quinn was denied twice.

The Bees pulled a goal back after the break from Lasse Vibe, but Reading and Blackman had the last word as he scored from the penalty spot after he was brought down by Button.

Reading are next in action, due to the international break, on September 11, when they entertain third placed Ipswich.

In other news striker Pavel Pogrebnyak has left the club and joined Dynamo Moscow.
