READING moved 10 points clear of the Championship relegation zone after they drew 1-1 at Blackpool on Tuesday night.

Manager Steve Clarke described it as a horrible game as his side came back from a goal down.

In a tense atmosphere home fans threw fireworks and eggs in a protest against the club's owners before the game.

On the pitch, Blackpool took lead after six minutes thanks to Jamie O’Hara’s penalty, after Reading’s Zat Knight fouled Gary Madine in the area.

The home side’s David Perkins and Michael Jacobs nearly doubled the lead, before Reading equalised soon after the interval.

Sub Pavel Pogrebnyak drove down the wing and his cross found the boot of Yakubu and then went in off Blackpool defender Grant Hall.

Reading manager Steve Clarke said: “It was a horrible game, but we will take the point and move on.”

The Royals now have two home games coming up against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday (kick-off 3pm) and Championship leaders Bournemouth on Tuesday (kick-off 8pm).
