READING ended their six game winless run in the Championship, with a 3-0 victory over bottom-side Blackpool.

The home side had the first chance of the game, as Oliver Norwood’s long range shot was saved well by Joe Lewis.

Reading took the lead after 23 minutes, as Glenn Murray headed in his fourth goal of the season.

The seasiders improved after the break and went close from Peter Clarke and Edu Oriol, before the Royals scored a second goal.

This saw visiting defender Clarke divert Jack Taylor’s header into his own net on the 69 minute mark.

Ishmael Miller hit the post for Blackpool eight minutes later, but this was as close as they came to scoring.

The Royals victory was completed with a penalty in the final minute, after Nick Blackman was fouled by John Lundstrom and the same player converted from the spot.

After the game Reading manager Nigel Adkins said: “The last few results have gone against us and although we've played some good football in those games, it's all about results.

"We've got many youngsters in the team who are gaining so much valuable experience.”

The win moved the Royals up to 14th in the table and next for them is a trip to Blackburn on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
