READING were knocked out of the League Cup as they lost 2-0 at Derby County, on Tuesday night.
The home side forced the first save of the game as Jordan Ibe drive was tipped onto the crossbar by Reading goalkeeper Mikkel Andersen.
Derby took the lead after 67 minutes, as Chris Martin flicked the ball into the path of Johnny Russell, and he fired low into the bottom corner.
The game was then won with a second goal eight minutes from time, after Martin’s cross hit Reading’s Alex Pearce’s knee on the way into the net.
Reading boss Nigel Adkins said: “Against a team who play excellent possession football I thought it was us who were in control of the game at that time.
"Unfortunately, the goal changes the complexion. We have not conceded two own goals in two games.”
Reading are next in action on Sunday (kick-off 1.15pm) when Wolves are the visitors to the Madejski Stadium in the Championship.
