READING manager Nigel Adkins has already begun his summer rebuilding programme, releasing five players.
Former England international Wayne Bridge is one of them, and the 33-year-old has announced his retirement after making just 12 appearances for the Royals last season due to a knee injury.
Captain Jobi McAnuff is also among those to be released, with midfielder Mikele Leigertwood, defender Kaspers Gorkss and goalkeeper Stuart Taylor the other casualties.
