READING’S Championship play-off hopes were dented, as they lost 1-0 to visiting Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

The visitors won the game thanks to a first-half goal from Craig Conway.

Conway, made the most of his first start for Blackburn, as his low cross-shot took a big deflection off the leg of Jobi McAnuff, leaving Reading’s goalkeeper Alex McCarthy no chance.

The visitors came close to making it 2-0, but McCarthy kept out Jordan Rhodes’ fierce drive.

The Royals best chances came from Royston Drenthe, but he failed to hit the target twice.

Reading manager Nigel Adkins said: "It was not a great game. It was a bit stop-start and Blackburn obviously came here to slow the game down.

“We'll put this one to bed and just move on."

Next up for the Royals is a visit from basement side Yeovil on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
