HARTLEY Wintney came back from two goals down, to beat visiting Holyport 3-2 in their FA Vase extra preliminary round tie.

The home side looked the better side in the opening 45 minutes, with Ryan Stephens, Shane Hollamby and Luke Walker creating chances.

However, by the hour mark they were 2-0 down and after a little re-shuffle of their line-up Luke Walker reduced the lead to one.

From here Hartley took control of the game, as two of their subs Lukas Burt and Jason Palmer combined and from Palmer’s cross Stephens acrobatically smashed the ball home from close range.

The home side were not finished and when Palmer drove into the box, he was brought down.

This left Stephens to hammer home the penalty to earn his side a trip to Highworth in the next round.

Tomorrow night, Hartley will be looking to book a place in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup when they entertain Ardley (kick-off 7.30pm).
