HARTLEY Wintney got back to winning ways in the Combined Counties League Premier Division with a 2-1 victory over visiting Epsom and Ewell at the Memorial Ground on Saturday.

Epsom took the lead against the run of play after 20 minutes, but Hartley hit back just before the break, centre-back Steve Noakes heading home a free-kick to make it 1-1 at half-time.

Hartley pressed for a winner but were frustrated by the visiting goalkeeper until Shane Hollamby was fouled in the area 10 minutes before the end. Ryan Stephens made no mistake from the penalty spot to give his side their second win of the season.

The result took Hartley up to eighth in the table and they have a break from league action on Saturday, when they host local rivals Frimley Green in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup.
