HARTLEY Wintney suffered defeat in their opening away game of the season, losing 2-1 to local rivals Cove last night.
The hosts scored first and while Hartley levelled through Ian Jones, highly-fancied Cove were able to find a second goal and see the game out to claim three points.
The result leaves Ben Dillon’s men 10th in the Combined Counties League Premier Division table after two games, having opened their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Colliers Wood United.
Hartley are next in action on Saturday, hosting Epsom and Ewell, who also have a record of one win and one defeat from their opening two games.
