HARTLEY Wintney FC are up to eighth in the Combined Counties League Premier Division after coming from behind to claim a fine 3-1 victory over visiting Windsor at the Memorial Ground last night.
Windsor, who sit fourth in the table, opened the scoring after 14 minutes, but a Sam Argent penalty levelled the game just before the half-an-hour mark.
Max Elward put Hartley ahead with an outstanding long-range strike soon after and Adam Everiss’ late penalty completed the scoring.
After enduring a difficult couple of months, Hartley seem to be back on track and they will be hoping to keep their dreams of a top-five finish alive by making it three wins in a row on Saturday, when they host mid-table Croydon.
It was not such a good night for Wessex League sides Whitchurch United and Tadley Calleva. Whitchurch went down 3-0 away at Premier Division leaders Alresford Town, while Tadley were beaten 4-0 by hosts Cowes Sports on the Isle of Wight in Division One.
Next up for Whitchurch, who sit ninth in the table, is a trip to mid-table Fareham Town on Saturday, while Tadley Calleva host bottom-of-the-table Hayling United.
