THEY managed to get a game played - but Hartley Wintney FC were unable to claim a victory at Epsom and Ewell last night.

The hosts went ahead on 14 minutes but Hartley hit back in style, scoring twice to lead 2-1 at half-time.

However, they were unable to hold on to their lead. Epsom levelled on the hour, went 3-2 up on 75 minutes and added a fourth goal soon after to emerge 4-2 winners.

The result means that Hartley sit 14th in the Combined Counties League Premier Division table, with their hopes of competing for promotion all but over.

The village side face two more away games in the coming week, travelling to struggling Chessington and Hook on Saturday before making the trip to sixth-placed Molesey on Tuesday.

Whitchurch United were also due to play last night - but their Andover Open Cup tie against Kingsclere was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at Longmeadow.

The Jam Boys are due to host Moneyfields in the Wessex League Premier Division on Saturday before taking on Division One outfit Petersfield Town in the semi-finals of the Wessex League Cup at Alresford Town's ground on Tuesday.
