DAN Greenwood scored an extra time winner for Chineham, as they beat North Warnborough Reserves 2-1, in the final of the Bernard Cornish Cup at Winklebury.

Chineham started the brighter of the two sides in the with Shane West's shot saved at the near post in the fourth minute, although Boro' had a chance cleared off the line at the other end a minute later.

Chineham's Kieron Alleyne had a shot charged down and Dan Greenwood fired over the bar.

On 20 minutes, Alleyne had the best chance so far, but shot across the Boro's goal.

Boro were playing deep with slow passing build up, and gradually made more chances.

Meanwhile, Chineham played the long ball to their speedy forwards, but were becoming frustrated in the middle of the half, but got back on top again as the goalless first half came to a close.

Chineham scored on 66 minutes when skipper Greenwood fired a thunderbolt from distance.

Tom Davies almost got Boro back level a few minutes later, but as the clock was ticking away, Nial Day volleyed into the top right hand corner with seven minutes left. Mellors could have completed Boro's come-back on 86 minutes, but shot at Nicholas Tucker in goal.

The first half of extra time was goalless, but in the 110th minute Shane West was brought down in the box and man of the match Greenwood converted the penalty for the winner.

The match officials were referee Mark Millard, assistant referees Kevin Laing and Keith Ide, 4th Official Melvyn Higgins.
