LUKE Gore Somesay's player/manager scored the winner five minutes from time as they beat Basingstoke Athletic 2-1 in the second round of the Hampshire Junior B Cup.

Athletic led at half time from Josh Boyle, but with 20 minutes left Hayden Chalker equalised and Gore then scored the winner.

Fancied Sherborne Saints will not be joining them and AFC Berg in the quarter-finals, after they lost their unbeaten record against Bournemouth visitors Durley Reserves, losing 4-2 on penalties.

The scores were level at 3-3 after 90 minutes, after the Saints led 2-0 from Luke Morgan and Matt Kelly.

Durley then took a 3-2 lead after the break, Kelly's second two minutes from time levelled things, before his side lost in a shoot-out.

In the quarter-finals Somesay are at home to Hythe Aztecs and AFC Berg will entertain Durley Reserves.

In the Hampshire Cup second round draw Twentyten travel to Portcastrians, Tadley Calleva A are at home to Bisterne United and Herriard Sports entertain Wroxall Basingstoke A Cup holders Hook are into the last four after a 2-1 win at Tadley Calleva A. They came back from a goal down scored by Gary Hibbs, as Tim Hearson and James Westwood netted.

The surprise of this round saw Overton United A lose 3-2 to Winklebury Wizards.

Winless Wizards havelost all seven league matches and conceded 38 goals.

In this game they led 2-0 from Joe Lake and George Lagden.

Right on half time Overton's Sami Aldoori netted from the spot and after the break Slyani Thomas made it 2-2.

Matt King with an unstoppable 25-yard shot scored the winner.

The other scheduled up ties, Herriard Sports v AFC Aldermaston Reserves and Bounty United v Twentyten were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.

AFC Berg progressed to the semi finals of the Basingstoke B Cup, after seeing off Chineham with a 3-0.

All the goals came in the first 45 minutes from Kieran Alleyne (2) and Ashley Burchett.

Twentyten Reserves beat Basingstoke Town Colts 1-0, as Dan Hancock scored the winner. Trevor Craig, the Colts manager, felt it was the best his young team had played so far and praised his goalkeeper Reece Emery for at least five fine saves to keep them in the game.

Longdog Soldiers edged out Origin Headley by the odd goal in seven, which all came in the last 45 minutes and moved Soldiers into the top four of the Basingstoke and District Division Two.

Longdog's goals came from Sam Trodd (2), Terry Dingley and Taylor Butler. Origin's trio came from Jamie Perryman, Chris Andrews and Marc Bone.
