EIGHT Basingstoke and District League sides booked their place in the second round of the North Hants May Cup last Saturday.

Herriard Sports saw off CK Andover 6-3, who fielded nine men throughout the contest.

A straight hat-trick from Nick Saunders, was followed by goals from Sam Weber, Craig Lewington and Adam Francis.

Tadley Calleva A cruised past CK Andover U21 with an 8-1 win, even if they took the lead.

Kye Theodore scored two in each half, while Gary Hibbs, Cameron Sweeney, Luke Allison and Stephen Burgess were also on target.

Division Two leaders AFC Berg saw off Division One opponents Winklebury Wizards 4-0, even if they missed two penalties. The first after Alex Cairne was dismissed for handball on the line. Gonzales made amends for his two penalty misses with the opening goal, while Ashley Elward and a Lee Neal brace completed the scoring.

Another Division One side fell to Division Two opposition as Somesay won at Overton United A 2-0. Both teams were reduced to 10 men after Armond Ince ( Overton) and Cullum Greenley (Somesay) were sent off for fighting each other.

Goals from Sam Lovelock just after the hour and Joe Hodge, after Overton were reduced to nine with after Connor Stratton received a straight red won the game.

Broughton won the trophy last year after beating Twentyten on penalties in the final and the holders opened their defence with a 6-1 win over Bounty United, as Jordan Willis scored their lone goal.

Sharing top spot in the Andover League with Broughton are Andover New Street Swifts, who were beaten by visiting Hook 3-0, as Andy Parker, Dan Mauridain and James Westwood all scored.

Longdog Soldiers had a good first half against Division One AFC Aldermaston Reserves. They took the lead after 30 minutes as despite Matt Desay getting a hand to Terry Dingley's penalty it went in.

Aldermaston hit back scoring five times after the break from Steve Lewis, Reese Barrett, Carl Allen's penalty, Luke Jones and Allen again.

Longdog were awarded a penalty with five minutes to go, but this time Desay pulled off a good save.

Basingstoke Athletic beat AFC Aldermaston A 2-1. Aldermaston had a penalty saved from Liam Belcher, before on the hour mark another spot kick saw Vinny Kennedy score.

Athletic levelled on 70 minutes from Marco Howard and five minutes later, Kieran Challis scored the winner from the spot.

It was a close affair between Chineham and Twentyten Reserves. Twentyten's Dan Hancock scored the winner three minutes from time to complete a hat-trick in a 4-3 win.

Tom Rogers and Finlay Thomson had Chineham 2-0 up, but a Hancock brace including a penalty and Jack Hulbert made it 3-2.

Ricky Smith equalised again, before Hancock scored the winner.

Basingstoke Town Colts bowed out after losing 10-2 to Andover League club Kingsclere.

Manager Trevor Craig felt the big score line flattered the home side and his side only trailed 2-1 at the break after Benica Oprea scored.

Liam Cook added another after the break.

All the losers in the above ties are now placed in the North Hants Junior Cup.
