HERRIARD Sports are the Basingstoke and District Division Two champions and they achieved it without kicking a ball as their Winklebury Wizards were unable to raise a team - so the it was awarded.

Despite this the Wizards still have a good chance of promotion, if they win their matches in hand.

Harry Grainger, the Wizards manager, said he had no alternative as players cried off during the week and on the morning another two and his goalkeeper.

It is now a fight for the second place and Winklebury are in the best position with seven matches left to play and if they win the lot will have 49 points.

Basingstoke Labour Club and Overton United B have just four matches to play and can both get to 40 points.

All of these clubs had evening matches, so the position could change before this Saturday’s fixtures.

Labour Club had a 4-0 win against bottom of the table Chineham.

James McCallion scored after 30 minutes with a thumping header from a Jack Barlow cross.

On the hour, Barlow scored again with the assist and this time to Josh Dickens.

Barney Powell, recently transferred back to the Labour, headed the third and also put away the fourth.

AFC Berg, with only the Hampshire Junior B Cup final to look forward to on April 28 at Whitchurch, could only manage a 2-2 draw away to AFC Aldermaston A .

It was all Berg in the opening 20 minutes when Dean Bridges hit the bar Kieran Alleyne forced a fine save, but they were caught on the break twice to trail 2-0 at half time.

In the 50th minute a cross from Carlos Gonzales saw Alleyne shot into the roof of the net.

On the 65 minute mark, Berg were level. A free kick taken by Mason Saunders was met by a bullet header from Peter Lomax.

Longdog Soldiers had their third win of the season when beating Twentyten Reserves and are now well clear of the bottom two.

All three goals were scored by Sam Trodd, his first coming in the 15th minute after Chris Andrews cut the ball back for him.

His twin brother Max beat two men and played Sam through for the second on 65 minutes.

Jake Barnes the Soldiers goalkeeper had plenty to do, but in the 80th minute Max Trodd played his brother through again for his hat-trick.

With five minutes to play Christian Cox scored for Twentyten Reserves.
