HOOK were crowned Basingstoke and District Saturday League Division One champions after they won at Tadley Calleva A 3-1, meaning Twentyten finished second.

It was a tight first half, but Hook broke the deadlock after 30 minutes, when Dan Framp sent Dan Mouradian on a run, he beat the offside trap shot past goalkeeper Harper.

Tadley almost levelled before the break when Kye Theodore completely unmarked broke through and hit the post.

On the hour, it became 2-0 when a shot by Pete Silvester was saved and Framp put away the rebound.

Five minutes later, Theodore had another chance and this time he scored to give Hook a difficult last 20 minutes, but with five minutes to go James Neville made sure of the title with a deflected shot from the edge of the box.

SECOND spot in Division Two will be decided on Saturday, when favourites Winklebury Wizards travel to Longdog Soldiers at Brighton Hill.

They defeated this team 9-0 in the opening game of the season, so losing would be a major surprise and would see Labour Club promoted instead.

On Saturday they played bottom club Chineham and had an easy three points by winning 6-1. It was not until the 24th minute before they broke down the Chineham defence when Dan Hargood scored and this was followed by the second, netted by Richard Lowther.

In the 48th George Lagden made it 3-0 and Dan Goodyear scored two quick goals to extend their lead to 5-0 by the hour.

Chineham were awarded a penalty on 74 minutes, when Ben Cronin was fouled, but Wizards goalkeeper Steve Williams saved the Matt Spargo spot kick. Tommy Collingridge did pull a goal back for Chineham, but Lagden netted his second later.

In midweek game, Longdog Soldiers lost to Origin 3-1 John Gurney gave Origin a 10th minute lead from a Bradley Hawkins cross.

Soldiers levelled through Tyron Payne after 20 minutes and it remained level until 10 minutes after the break, when Hawkins found the net from 25 yards out. It was seven minutes from time when Mark Bone came up with the third for Dave Hawkins side, who has avoided a bottom two spot in their first season.
