UNDERDOGS Bounty United gave DC UK a real run for their money before losing 3-2 after extra time in the final of the Peter Raynbird Cup final.

Bounty could have been three up in the opening 20 minutes. In only the second minute, Alex Izzo broke from 50 yards out and went on a strong run.

The DC goalkeeper Dan Burrows did well to get a hand to his close range shot, but the ball fell to Andy Neal and his angled shot was cleared off the line for a corner.

A good move by Simon Farrell and Neal led to Izzo having another chance and this time Burrows saved with his feet.

There was another chance for Bounty from Matt Love before DC began to get their game together and went close twice through Ben Nicholls and a header from Gordon Birch.

DC certainly improved after the break and on 61 minutes took the lead. Following a Bounty corner, the clearance led to a harmless collision by Bounty midfielder George Langley and a DC man some 50 yards from goal.

The loose ball was picked up by Harry Rudge and he went onto beat the out coming Richie Vinn.

In the 78th minute Rudge hit the bar, before impressive Bounty left back, Jordon Wainwright saw his excellent cross cleared for a corner before his side equalized on 82 minutes.

It started with a one-two between Sam Hicks and Izzo, another good ball from Wainwright found Neal at the near post and the move ended with Harry Warner scoring from eight yards out.

Extra time came and Bounty attacked with substitute Steve Bucksey having a shot deflected for a corner and Warren Hill blasting a chance high over the bar.

DC came back strongly and after Stuart Austen and Nicholls both missed chances.

They regained the lead a minute before the half time whistle. Austen muscled his way into the box and beating he helpless Vinn.

Bounty pushed up for the equaliser with Izzo forcing a good save from Burrows, but with 10 minutes left they were caught on the break when Nicholls broke down the left and no Bounty defenders in sight, played across for veteran striker Clint Bassett who had replaced the tiring Austen, to place the simple chance into the empty net.

Bounty were not finished and Andy Neal scored with a back post header from a cross from Simon Farrell to make it 3-2.

Then in added time Izzo was through and shot straight at the keeper.

The man of the match award went to DC's Shaun Searle. The cup and was presented to the DC captain Gordon Birch by Peter Raynbird, the Basingstoke and District League President.
