HOOK played their Hampshire A Cup Quarter Final on the all weather pitch at Queen Mary’s College and were well beaten 7-2 by Southampton League visitors Compton.

We have no excuses said Dave Morris after the defeat, most of our players are used to training on these type of pitches, but in the end we were beaten by a better team.

Hook competed until the 30th minute, when Compton took the lead after 30 minutes from a contentious penalty and added two more, before Hook opened their account.

A minute before the break, Dave White's cut back saw Dan Mouradian  make it 3-1. Their hopes were raised again after 55 minutes when Mouradian scored from White's corner.

Hook had a strong appeal for a penalty on Tom Davies, which led to a breakaway and free-kick from which Compton scored and they dominated the rest of the game adding three more goals.

On a sunny Saturday afternoon the pitches at Brighton Hill stood idle as the council had called all of their waterlogged pitches off on Friday.

This meant both Hampshire B Cup semi-finals were lost and will be staged this weekend.
