SOLDIERS Return suffered the heartache of penalty shoot-out loss as they went out of the Hampshire Senior Cup at Arms Athletic.

Alex Izzo had Soldiers 1-0 up, before Arms Athletic levelled Warren Hill made it 2-1 with a 20-yard drive.

After the interval, the hosts took a 3-2 lead. Freddie Cloke fired in from the edge of the 18-yard box and Izzo gave Soldiers the lead.

However, Arms equalised and a Izzo penalty miss saw them lose the shoot-out 5-3.

North Warnborough Reserves won their Hampshire Junior B Cup tie at Farnborough Athletic 4-1.

It wasn’t an auspicious start by the visitors, Andy Parker missing a penalty awarded after only 10 minutes, but on 20 minutes Jason Williams scored. Before half-time Nial Day and Tom Lucas had built up a 3-0 lead. The hosts pulled one back, but Day got his second goal for the win.
