HERRIARD Sports' slim hopes of finishing in the top two of the Basingstoke and District Division Two looked to have disappeared after a 3-3 draw with lowly placed TDI Group.

It was Dan Hancock that TDI have to thank for this unexpected point as all three of their goals were scored by him.

Although Herriard had only 10 men due to injuries, they took a third minute lead through Sam Weber and it became 2-0 when Neil Minton headed home a Weber cross in the 30th minute.

Hancock scored his first eight minutes later, a header after a James Brown shot had hit the bar.

Two minutes after the break, Hancock equalised after being put through by Tom Roworth.

Weber soon regained the Herriard lead following a Chris Dobbie through ball, but just after the hour, Hancock completed his hat-trick, beating the offside trap after picking up a long pass from Andy Chambers.

TDI goalkeeper Russ Hancock announced after the game he was retiring and along with the Herriard goalkeeper Dave Purt, had a good finish to his career, both making some vital saves.

Herriard picked up three more points on Monday evening after AFC Berg cried off, being unable to raise a team.

Winklebury Wizards are now well clear of any thoughts of finishing in the bottom two after beating Overton United B 4-3 at Berrydown.

Overton took the lead after eight minutes when Jesse Todd put away a move by Brodie Good.

A 40-yard free-kick, taken by Scott Large eluded all in the six yard box, including the goalkeeper, to level things in the 16th minute.

Adam Bartlett was on the end of a quick throw from Jack Arthur to put Wizards ahead and he extended the lead with a second after good play by Dan Goodyear.

Bartlett then completed his hat-trick after good play by Scotty Winterbourne on the hour.

Good goalkeeping by stand in outfield player Matthew Leyroyd stopped any further goals from Wizards, as Overton fought back.

In the 70th minute they were awarded a penalty when Todd was fouled and Jamal Rose converted.

Then eight minutes later, they scored a third, scored by Kieran Fuller after a good solo run, but Wizards then held firm.

AFC Berg slipped to the bottom of the table even though they managed a point from a very scrappy 0-0 draw against AFC Aldermaston A.

There was little to report apart from an excellent save by goalkeeper Dan Nocella to stop Berg in the 75th minute and Nick Tucker, in the Berg goal, saved one-on-one from Tony Johnson five minutes from time.
