THE Bernard Cornish Cup semi-final brought together two sides, who were on winning runs of five and seven games respectively, so something have to give.

Second Division Bramley United provided all the first half pressure, but North Warnborough Reserves, the underdogs from Division Three, held firm almost to half time, even surviving Adam Bartlett's penalty.

The deadlock was broken in the 44th minute as Colin Bell made it 1-0. After the break, Dean Ridgers and Stuart Leddy added a goal apiece, before Bartlett atoned for his earlier miss with a brace, as Bramley won 5-0.

They will now face Affini Technology in the final at Winklebury on Sunday April 24 (11am).

Oakley beat the bare 11 players of Basingstoke Saints 5-0 in the Basingstoke and District Sunday League Division One.

They took 35 minutes to take the lead from Laith Aldoori's left foot. Dan Bloma made it 2-0 before Samie Aldoori converted a cross from his brother at close range before half time.

Still the Saints mounted stiff resistance, remarkable as the team had drafted in eight reserves and neither team has won a league match in their respective divisions.

They finally cracked on 85 minutes when first Laith Aldoori, then Bloma, completed their braces.

Basingstoke Saints played well, belying their lowly position, the club was proud of them and certainly earned the opposition's respect, having given everything they had.

Louis Woodman, skipper, lead them well considering he is 21, almost a senior in this current young side. The game was well refereed by Colin Dwyer.

Dayers Fine Foods were unable to raise a team to face Tron. The match will go to the next committee meeting to decide the result, although usually the points are awarded against the offending team.

North Warnborough beat Eastrop Eagles 5-3 in Division Two and attacked from the outset, getting their reward with a lead after five minutes.

Ryan Thorpe doubled that advantage five minutes later. Ryan Davies then netted his first goal for the team to make it 3-0.

Borough kept on pressing and a penalty by Tom Davies took the score into new territory for the bottom side, 4-0.

Eastrop Eagles then regrouped and Keith Davies got them off the mark with a shot from outside the box. Westley Bush pulled another back with a header, and the pressure brought the harvest of an own goal, reducing the deficit to 4-3 with 10 minutes to go.

The visitors looking certain to at least share the points. However, Tom Davies spoiled Eagles' party with a breakaway 5-3 to confirm a home victory. This was North Warnborough's only league double of the season.

Hampshire Irons beat the leaders UWS 7-2, with a Rob Mead penalty, plus goals from Charlie Henry, Terry Lock, Tom Chant, Mike Pemberton, a Simon Head penalty and Charlie Henry's second to complete his brace, perfect revenge for an earlier defeat in the league.

Revolution won 6-1 against Chineham, with singles from John Norman, Ashley Perryman, Keith Bailey, and a Craig Atkinson hat-trick.

In Division Three, despite a Chris Waller wonder goal, Camrose Social were beaten by a last-minute David Gallichan as FC Benidorm of Stoke won 2-1. Taylor Watts scored the visitors' opening goal, setting up the league double.

The match between Chineham Athletic and DG Athletic was abandoned after 60 minutes due to serious injury to a player. Chineham Athletic were leading 2-0 at the time, after goals by Steve Hartwell and Steve Owen.
