HAMPSHIRE Irons moved up to second in the Basingstoke and District League Division One after an unexpected 2-0 win against Tadley Calleva A.

Ben Haskins scored Irons' first with a well struck free-kick pass a struggling goalkeeper Darren Maunder.

With Maunder injured and unable to continue Lee Champion took over in goal and 10 minutes from time Charlie Henry scored with a solo strike.

New leaders Hook cruised to a 10-1 win at Silchester against a weakened DJS Telecoms.

Aaron King gave Hook the lead and within the next two minutes Pete Silvester made it two.

Andy Parker scored number three and then Dave White headed home, before Silver scored a second ahead of half time.

It became 7-0 from an own goal and Silvester helping himself to another from a James Westwood pass. DJS scored their lone goal from Jason Freathy penalty.

There was no respite for the luckless DJS who conceded three late goals from James Neville, White and King, There were goal galore as Basingstoke Labour Club won 6-5 at Sherborne St John to inflict the first league defeat on the previous leaders.

The star man in the match was the Labour striker Cameron George who scored five of their six goals to take his tally to 15 for the season.

Sherborne took the lead through Ibrahim Waheed, following a long clearance from goalkeeper Darren Gary.

George soon equalised and by half time he had completed a straight hat trick.

Sherborne then lost Gary and outfield player Tobie Judd took over.

Sachin Rae pulled a goal back, before, George restored the two goal advantage.

James Lovell pulled a goal back for Sherborne, but recent signing from Tron, Matt Kelly made it 5-3 to the visitors, before Labour goalie Sam White made three one-on-one saves.

Waheed then stuck again, but George netted fifth to make it 6-4.

Sherborne did manage another goal, when Waheed completed his hat-trick with a penalty, but Labour held on.

Overton United A enjoyed their first league win after six matches as they beat fancied Basingstoke Athletic 3-1.

Ben Wooton and Joe Lake combined on 21 minutes for Jamal Rose to beat acting goalkeeper Kieran Challis from long range.

Early in the second half, Nathan Rae curled in a nice volley for a two goal advantage.
