NIAL Day scored a dramatic 89th-minute winner to earn North Warnborough a place in the first round proper of the Bernard Cornish Cup on Sunday.

An early goal from Day and Tom Davies' strike had Warnborough 2-1 up at half-time in their tie against FC Benidorm of Stoke, with Ryan Thorpe adding a third after the break.

Benidorm pulled level and the tie looked set for extra-time, but Day's second of the game saw Warnborough through. Luke Taylor bagged a brace for the losers, with Taylor Watts also finding the net.

Freddie Cloke had Soldiers Return ahead at the halfway stage of their Basingstoke and District Sunday League Division One match against Dayer's Fine Foods.

Cobi Judd added a second after the break and Cloke scored again before Nick Saunders pulled one back for Dayer's, with Jamie Galpin making it 4-1 late on.

Stephen Bean hit a hat-trick, Dan Belcher bagged a brace and Tom Skinner also found the net as FC Basing beat Basingstoke Saints 6-0.

Oakley scored a late penalty to grab a point from their home game against FC Everest. Cameron George and James Hurst both put Everest ahead, but Oakley found an equaliser on each occasion.

Republic of Chineham made it three wins in a row with a 4-0 win over Tron. Sam Nicholls opened the scoring direct from a corner, Ben Nicholls doubled the lead from the penalty spot before half-time and the hosts netted twice more after the break.

Wheatsheaf suffered their first defeat, beaten 3-0 away at Basingstoke Royals. Steven Price, Amit Bhuller and James Gilham found the net, with Craig Barker setting up two goals.
