OVERTON United B head the Basingstoke and District Saturday League Division Two table following a 1-0 win over visiting Hook Reserves.

Both sides went close during a tight first half, but it was Overton who got the only goal of the game on 78 minutes.

Mark Beagley was penalised for a push in the area and Matt Aslett converted the spot-kick.

Hook had a chance to level soon after, but Jack McKee put his big chance over the crossbar.

Winklebury Wizards are off the mark after a 1-0 win in their first match of the season against AFC Berg.

Wizards hit the post twice in the first half, through Scotty Winterbourne and Scott Large, but they got the winner on 72 minutes, Dean Scott firing home from Dan Goodyear’s corner.

Basingstoke United put Basingstoke Athletic Reserves to the sword, winning 7-0.

Joe Cook opened the scoring after just two minutes, with Jamie Lucas doubling the lead on the half-hour. Tom Hartley bagged a hat-trick after the break, with Ashley Pearce and Gus Reis also finding the net during a second-half rout.

Herriard Sports claimed a good 3-2 win over hosts AFC Aldermaston A.

The visitors lead by two at the break, Chris Dobbie and Sam Cato finding the net, but goals from Jason Torrie and Andy Barfoot had Aldermaston level with 25 minutes left.

However, Herriard soon regained their lead, Dobbie firing home from the penalty spot.

Tron brushed aside visiting TDI Group, winning 6-0.

Ben Nicholls opened the scoring in the early stages, while Richard McCoubrie doubled the lead before half-time. Kevin Beaumont scored direct from a corner early in the second half, and Nicholls then took control, netting three more goals.
