THREE teams remain very much in contention for second place in Basingstoke and District Saturday League Division One after a day of interesting results.

Two of the candidates, DJS Telecoms and Hampshire Irons, played out a 3-3 draw, while TwentyTen kept themselves in contention with a win over leaders Overton United A.

In their game against DJS, Irons took the lead after five minutes, Jay Greene finding the net after playing a one-two with Olly Owen, with Tom Chant heading home Chris Arnold’s cross to double the lead.

DJS pulled a goal back through as Nathan Lawson header in from Lee Neal’s cross just before half-time – and they completed the comeback early in the second half, George Lagden making it 2-2.

A Pete Lomax own goal looked to have undone all of DJS’ hard work, but they salvaged a point thanks to Lagden’s home free-kick, despite being reduced to 10 men in the closing stages, Paul Dolan receiving his marching orders.

TwentyTen will finish second if they can win their last four matches after beating champions Overton United A 1-0. Overton were missing several players and Joe Hill ensured that TwentyTen took advantage, converting Christian Cox’s through-ball on the half-hour.

Hook Reserves won their local derby with North Warnborough 4-2. Hook led 2-0 from Stacey Harris and Dave Mohannad.

Bradley Yates pulled a goal back from a free-kick, but Kack McKee then made it 3-1.

Yates scored his second with 10 minutes left, but an error at the back saw sub Sean Eccott net another for Hook.
