TRON suffered penalty shoot-out heartbreak in the semi-finals of the Andover President’s Cup on Sunday.

Dave Parry bagged a brace, with Nathan Emsworth and Nathan Grey also finding the net, but the game ended 4-4 and Wolversdene secured their place in the final, winning 5-2 on penalties.

It was better news for FC Everest, who won 2-0 away at AFC Allbrook to reach the final of the North Hants Chris Price Cup.

Soldiers Return made it five wins in a row by beating Basingstoke Saints 2-0 in Basingstoke and District Sunday League Division One.

There were no goals in the first half, but Freddie Cloke’s powerful header put Soldiers Return ahead early in the second period. Alex Izzo converted Jamie Gelpin’s pass to double the lead and Saints missed a couple of chances to score late on.

Republic of Chineham stretched their winning run to six games with a 6-2 victory at South View.

Dan Greenwood and Kieron Alleyne were among the Chineham scorers as they beat RAF Odiham Blades 3-1 in Division Two. James Hindmarsh netted for Blades.

Elsewhere, UWS suffered their first defeat in five games, going down 1-0 at New Inn, while Oakley beat visiting Hampshire Irons 3-2.

DG Athletic survived a second-half fightback from Soldiers Return Reserves to claim a 2-1 victory in Division Three. Andrew Butcher and Neil Huddeswell had DG two goals up at the break, but Soldiers Return hit back in the second half, Lewis Judd reducing the deficit to a single goal.

A Ryan Stephens brace and further goals from Josh Thompson and Mark Frost gave Team FC a 4-1 win over AFC Golden Lion. Aaron Burt was the Golden Lion scorer.

Leaders Eastrop Eagles maintained their grip on top spot with a 3-0 win away at Chineham Athletic.
