SOLDIERS Return beat Tron by the odd goal in seven to reach the semi-finals of the Basingstoke Kelvin Cup.
Hosts Soldiers Return went ahead midway through the first half, Warren Hill netting the rebound after Ellis Hauman’s shot had been saved.
Dave Parry soon levelled, but Jamie Galpin beat the offside trap to ensure that the home side led at half-time.
Alex Izzo made it 3-1 early in the second half, but Michael Moray reduced the Tron deficit to a single goal. The visitors then piled on the pressure, looking to pull level, but Izzo’s second of the game gave Soldiers Return some breathing space.
Again Tron hit back, Moray getting his second of the game, and they forced home goalkeeper Andrew Darmody into a couple of decent saves late on, but Soldiers Return held firm to reach the last four.
