OVERTON United Reserves reached the final of the North Hants Intermediate Cup with a 2-1 victory over visiting Tadley Calleva A.

Tadley took the lead through Stephen Burgess, but Darryl Taylor levelled before the break and Ross Soper-Dyer got Overton’s winner in the second half, setting up a final against Broughton.

Overton United A also made cup progress, beating Broughton Reserves 3-1 to reach the semi-finals of the North Hants Junior Cup.

Broughton led at half-time, but Nathan Bennis levelled for Overton, Charlie Palmer put the home side in front and Bennis got his second to kill the game off.

Two of the four teams in the North Hants May Cup semi-finals will be Basingstoke and District Saturday League sides.

Hampshire Irons cruised into the last four with a 6-0 win over visiting Herriard thanks to an excellent performance from striker Chris Dobbie.

He set up the first with a flick for Alex Brown, before completing a first-half hat-trick to put the game out of Herriard’s reach. Dobbie was again the creator as Brown got his second after the break before completing an excellent day by setting up John Arnold to make it six.

Twentyten are also in the semi-finals, but they had a much harder last-eight tie, winning 4-3 away at AFC Wolversdene of the Andover League.

Joe Hill and Jordon Wainwright both scored early on to put the Basingstoke side two goals up, but Wolversdene hit back to lead 3-2 at half-time.

Christian Cox headed home a corner to level the game after the break and Joe Osborne grabbed the winner with 15 minutes remaining.

Bounty United went out of the competition, losing 2-0 to Baughurst. Matt Love missed an early penalty and Baughurst made him pay, scoring twice before the break and holding on in the second half.

Basingstoke United were beaten 5-3 away at New Street Swifts to make their exit from the competition.

The visitors conceded two early goals but hit back to level before the half-hour, with Tyler Weiss and Tom Hartley both netting. United goalkeeper James Sallows managed to save a penalty and while Swifts did regain the lead, Hartley’s second goal of the game made it 3-3 at half-time.

However, it was the Andover side that went on to win the game in the second half, scoring in the 70th and 85th minutes to reach the semi-finals.
