BASINGSTOKE Saints recorded their first home win of the season at the weekend, beating Dayer’s Fine Foods 4-2 in Basingstoke and District Sunday League Division One.

Dayer’s led at the break thanks to Mark Lewyer’s strike, but Saints hit back with a brace from Anthony Pendlebury to lead 2-1. George Langden’s goal levelled the game at 2-2, but Rick Pike’s spectacular overhead kick and Liam James’ goal secured victory for the home side.

Harry Rudge scored against his former team to give unbeaten Lamb Inn a 1-0 lead at half-time against South View. However, Ashley Roberts levelled the scores after the break and substitute Alex Lee came off the bench to grab a winner for the visitors, handing Lamb Inn their first league defeat of the season.

Hampshire Irons suffered their third straight defeat in Division Two, going down 3-2 at home to Oakley Reserves, while UWS maintained their unbeaten away record with a 2-1 win at North Warnborough II.

There were a couple of really entertaining draws in Division Three, with Chineham Athletic and AFC Golden Lion sharing four goals, while the game between DG Athletic and Chineham Reserves ended 3-3.

The point was DG’s first of the season, with Liam Rump, Kirk Goode and Neil Padwell getting their goals. Serge Holland scored twice for Chineham, with Paul Marsh also finding the net.

Steve Hartwell and Ben Owen were Chineham Athletic’s scorers, with Ryan Upton and Jamir Miah netting for AFC Golden Lion.

Eastrop Eagles moved to the top of the table with a 2-1 win over visiting Soldiers Return Reserves.

Pete Davies had Eastrop ahead at half-time, while Paul Adams doubled the lead after the break. Josh Buckingham pulled one back to set up a nervy last 12 minutes, but Soldiers Return were unable to get on terms.
