NEW Inn saw off Chineham to reach the second round of the Bernard Cornish Cup on Sunday.

Darren Slade and Nat Osborne netted for New Inn and while Kieron Alleyne pulled one back for Chineham, they were unable to prevent their hosts recording their first win in four to progress in the competition.

There was bad news for all of the other Basingstoke and District Sunday League sides playing cup matches at the weekend.

RAF Odiham Blades went down 9-1 to visiting Southampton outfit Boyatt Wood Wanderers in the Hampshire Sunday Junior A Cup, while Basing United lost 3-2 at Twinings of Andover in the North Hants John Ward Cup.

Kaiser Wessex were beaten 7-0 by Barton Stacey in the Basingstoke Kelvin Cup, while, in the Andover Presidents Cup, Overton lost 5-2 at Nether Wallop and Republic of Chineham went down 3-2 to visiting AFC Wolversdene.
