ONCE again, the wet winter weather affected the planned football programme, with only six matches being staged on Sunday.

Tron had a great day as they beat visiting Winchester Sunday league leaders Mucky Duck 5-2 in the North Hants Senior Cup.

Chris Morris led the way with an excellent hat-trick. Ross Cook added to the score with a conversion from the penalty spot and Giani Thomas netted their fifth.

The win extends Tron’s unbeaten home run to four games and ends Mucky Duck’s 100 per cent record.

In the same competition, Lamb Inn beat visiting Soldiers Return by the odd goal in seven.

The sides had met in the league a few weeks earlier, with Lamb emerging narrow winners, and once again it was a close encounter.

Lamb scored after 20 minutes and this remained the score at the interval.

The home side doubled their lead 10 minutes after the break and score remained 2-0 until 20 minutes from time, when Warren Hill scored from 25 yards to start the fight-back.

Ellis Hauman equalised shortly after, but Lamb stepped up their game, restoring their lead on 78 minutes and making it 4-2 five minutes from time.

Their lead was cut to one as Alex Izzo scored from 25-yards, but Lamb maintained their unbeaten start to the season by winning 4-3 as Sean Blackman, Chris Smalley, Harry Rudge and Ben Nicholls all netted.

New Inn lost 5-2 in their North Hants Chris Price Cup tie against top Southampton side AFC Allbrook.

In the Bernard Cornish Cup, Matthew Cook and Dale Hooper scored for Chineham Athletic as they lost 11-2 to UWS.

In the same competition, Division Three outfit Team FC hammered struggling Division Two side RAF Odiham Blades 14-4.

In the only Basingstoke and District Sunday League game, Chineham Reserves beat visiting AFC Golden Lion 2-1 in Division Three.

Kyle Buckland and Steve Holland scored for the home side, while James Lowe pulled one back for the visitors.
