BASINGSTOKE Labour Club recorded their first win of the season in Basingstoke and District Saturday League Division Two, beating AFC Berg 3-2 to send their opponents to the foot of the table.

Matt Kelly put Labour ahead early on and Cameron George doubled the lead soon after, but an Olly Davies penalty and Shane West’s strike pulled Berg level.

Mark Forbes got what proved to be the Labour winner on 72 minutes, but they needed goalkeeper Sam White to save a penalty in the closing stages.

Bounty United recovered from 3-1 down to grab a point from their trip to Preston Candover. Matt Love put Bounty ahead early on but Richard Spiers levelled and two volleys from Joe Tomlinson had Candover in control.

Paul Eldridge almost scored a fourth for the hosts, but his header hit the crossbar, and Love’s second of the day got Bounty back into the game.

They had a great chance to level soon after, but Mitchell Stokes saw his penalty saved by James Skirving. However, the Candover goalkeeper was beaten with 15 minutes to go, substitute Aaron Parfitt firing home to earn his side a point.

Overton United B and AFC Aldermaston A played out a rare goalless draw at Berrydown, with both goalkeepers making vital saves.
