THERE were no real surprises in the Basingstoke Junior B Cup, with Winklebury Wizards, Preston Candover and Bounty United all progressing to the second round.
Winklebury were convincing 6-2 winners over Labour Club. They led 2-0 at the break with goals from Matt Lowe and Scotty Winterbourne, while Ben Clarke and a Nathan Read own-goal made it 4-0.
Read then scored at the other end, but Winterbourne’s second extended the lead again. Cameron George got Labour’s second, but the Wizards had the last word through Greg Adams late on.
Preston Candover beat hosts Overton United B 4-1. Richard Spiers, a Jimmy Buckland penalty and Rob Stait had Candover three goals up at the break and while Mike Burry pulled one back for Overton, Joe Tomlinson added a fourth for the visitors late on.
Bounty United won 3-1 at home to AFC Berg. Bounty player-manager Jordan Willis opened the scoring in the first half, with Phil Case doubling the lead after the break. Berg pulled one back through Kieran Allayne but Willis made sure his side went through by adding a third in injury-time.
