OAKLEY won a thriller at Basingstoke Saints as they came from behind twice to win 3-2, in the Basingstoke and District Sunday League Division One, writes Tony Spencer.

Saints took an early lead, after Walter Bendoro’s cross was buried by Anthony Pendlebury, but Oakley levelled with a penalty.

Omar Febal restored Saints’ lead, but Oakley scored twice to win the game, thanks to goals from Danny Costa and Charn Congdon.

Republic of Chineham started their campaign on the wrong side of a 3-2 home defeat against Lamb Inn.

Republic took an early lead with a strike from Joe Lawler.

This was soon cancelled out by goals from Lamb’s Chris Smalley and Dan Dedman.

Republic equalised through Matthew Bennett, before Smalley's second gave Lamb the win and sent them top.

Kaiser Wessex lost 3-1 at Dayers Fine Foods, despite leading early on through Ed Hall’s penalty.

Nick Brook equalised and then a brace from Alex Brown made sure of all three points.

Soldiers Return beat Tron 4-0, with Ellis Hauman, Andy Butler and Frederick Cloke on target in the first half.

After the restart, Cloke scored his second and then Tron netted a late penalty from Chris Morris.

In Division Two, Oakley Reserves were beaten 3-0 by Hampshire Irons, as Rob Mead scored a penalty and Mike Templeton hit a brace.

Chineham’s James Hanley scored the winner, as his side beat RAF Odiham Blades 1-0.

New Inn were hammered 6-0 by UWS and FC Everest remain the only unbeaten team in the division, after winning 3-1 at North Warnborough.

In Division Three Paul Adams scored all three goals for Eastrop Eagles to ensure a win at Chineham Athletic.

A Michael Abbott brace, an own goal and singles from Josh Matthews and Jason Brown were still not enough as Basing United lost 6-5 to Chineham Reserves. The visitors ensured victory thanks to a Joe Marsh hat-trick, Jimmy Buckland’s brace and Tyler Andrews’ single.

Soldiers Return Reserves polished off DG Athletic 4-0 after scoring three times in the first half.

Powell Terbot slotted in a penalty after just five minutes, Jay Wild increased the lead and then Terbot netted his second with a chip.

Arrick Deszierda completed the comfortable win.

Team FC romped to an 8-2 victory over AFC Golden Lion, as Mark Frost scored four times, Dan Cale grabbed a brace, and Mickey Thomas and Josh Tomty netted one each.

Lion’s consolations came from James Lowe and Burt.
