THE final of the Peter Raynbird Cup will be an all-Basingstoke and District Saturday League Division One affair after Skewers pulled off a shock win over Premier Division outfit Basingstoke Royals in the last four.

Scott Harvey hit the post for Royals in the first half but they took the lead on 58 minutes, a long throw leading to an own-goal off the knee of Luke Manton.

Jamie Perryman levelled the game nine minutes later and Skewers were the stronger side in the closing stages, winning the tie in injury-time thanks to Ben Woods’ header.

They will face Overton United A in the final at Winklebury on May 7.

Neither of the two Premier Division fixtures scheduled for Saturday took place. Popley were unable to raise a team for their trip to Welly Old Boys, while the game between New Inn and Hook was called off due to the lack of a referee.
