TOWN boss Terry Brown wants his team to “play without fear” when they travel to Hereford on Saturday.

Having exited the Hampshire Senior Cup on Tuesday night, and without a win in their last four games, the Town boss said his team should still go into their trip to Edgar Street to enjoy themselves.

Hereford, who currently sit fifth in the Southern League Premier Division, have been making headlines with their heroics in the FA Cup and averaging home attendances of around 2,000 people, but Brown believes this could work to their advantage.

He told The Gazette: “Nobody is expecting us to win, so I just want us to go there and play without fear.

“I am planning of fielding an attacking side, as they have a big ground and a big reputation, so it will be a great opportunity for us to give a good showing of ourselves.

“This will be a great experience for the lads to play in front of a big crowd and we are expecting a coach load of fans to make the trip as well, so there will be a really good atmosphere on Saturday.”

Brown is set to ring the changes from the side which narrowly missed out on penalties to Winchester City on Tuesday night.

The Dragons gaffer will have the returning Sam Argent, Shane Hollamby and George Bennett at his disposal to bring in some seniority to the side.

However, Brown was quick to heap on praise for his youngsters who played in the week, in particular for goalkeeper Giodano Zabotti who made his first team debut against Winchester.

“We are really fortunate in that we have two 18-year-old goalkeepers who are showing first team quality,” added Brown.

“Gio really did himself proud and I honestly believe if he was 6ft4 he would be playing for a league club and be showing everyone how good he is.”

Basingstoke Town travel to Hereford FC on Saturday, 9 December with a 3pm kick-off.
