WITH the leading two clubs in the Basingstoke and District Saturday League Division Two, AFC Berg and Sherborne Saints having a week off, Somesay made ground on them with a 5-2 win against Basingstoke Town Colts and are now level on points. It was Luke Gore who gave Somesay an early lead, picking up a through ball from Cullen Greenley who then made it 2-0 in the 20th minute.

Joe Hodge added a third 10 minutes later, but Caius Joseph netted for Colts before half time and then scored again ion 65 minutes when he followed up and put away a free-kick by Jack Barnes that had hit the bar and rebounded kindly for him. Pushing up for the equaliser, Joseph hit the post and then against the run of play Somesay scored their fourth from Joseph Sandwell with a tap in from the fine pass from Jordon Russell.

Russell then went on a solo run to complete the 5-2 win.

Origin Headley made it two wins on the trot, as they defeated Twentyten Reserves 5-1. Luke Ambrose opened the scoring for them in the 15th minute, following a cross from Stuart Carr.

Twentyten drew level through Jack Hulbert, but Karl Holborough had Origin level by half time from another assist by Carr and went on to complete his hat-trick. Bradley Hawkins netted the fifth two minutes from time.

There was plenty of goals at Everest School where Longdog Soldiers defeated Chineham 8-4for their first points of the season. They were however trailing in the eighth minute when Shane West scored for Chineham with a diving header from a Tommy Collingridge centre.

Terry Dingley equalised, a header from the Joe Oates cross and goals from Max Trodd and a 25 yard strike by Sam Mosdell gave them a 3-1 lead.

Tyler Andrews took a pass from Chris Andrews to add another before Chineham pulled a goal back from a penalty, put away by West. Before half time it became 5-2 when Chris Rust scored with a far post header from a Mosdell cross.

Graham Jenkins scored from a penalty to pull a goal back for Chineham, but further goals from Dingley and Trodd made it 7-3.

Oates headed home the eighth, before West completed his hat-trick for the losers.
