JAYDEN Englefield scored the decisive penalty as Hartley Wintney beat Fleet Town 4-3 after a shoot-out to finish third in the O'Neills Invitation Cup.

Hartley had four new faces in the line up and toiled throughout the opening 45 minutes. Fellow Southern League Division One outfit Fleet dominated and took the lead with a powerful shot from 20 yards by defender Adam Nditi on 17 minutes.

Kyle Martin added a second after 32 minutes following some good interplay on the edge of the box.

The nearest the Row came was a good shot from early substitute youngster Englefield which was saved by the goalkeeper.

On 41 minutes things got worse for Hartley when skipper Sam Argent went off injured.

Hartley improved after the break and 17-year-old Englefield created chances with good skilful runs down the right wing.

Luke Perkins came close on 55 minutes after an error by the Fleet goalkeeper.

Then Englefield shot over from a good cross by Perkins.

The Row remained on top and reduced the arrears on 78 minutes.

Adam New was pulled down in the penalty box and Joe Paris converted the spot kick. Three minutes later Hartley equalised when the Fleet goalkeeper was unable to grasp a high cross.

Liam Eagle forced the ball across the goal and Adam New scored from close range.

The Row almost snatched victory when a Steve Noakes header came off the crossbar.

Hartley went behind in the penalty shoot out before recovering to win it 4-3.

Speaking after the game Hartley co-manager Daniel Brownlie said "It was good to play against both Farnborough and Fleet Town who are a decent side. This gives us a level of play we must aspire to and we must continue to improve.

It was pleasing that the team spirit is still there to recover from 2-0 down. We are hopeful Sam Argent will be fit for our opening match in two weeks time."
