THE first three members of the Initial Board of Basingstoke Town Community FC have been confirmed and they are Alan Turvey, Steve Williams and Will Wilkinson.

Turvey is the President of the club and has a vast amount of experience in football administration.

Williams is a former player and manager of Basingstoke Town and also a past Chairman of the sports charity Overton Recreation Centre.

Wilkinson is focussed on improving the digital presence of the club, internal systems and processes and strengthening/broadening sponsor relationships.

They will be joined by three other members who will be voted on to the committee at Tuesday night’s Basingstoke Town’s Fans Forum at the Camrose which starts at 7pm.

This board is set to take Basingstoke Town from its present state to a community club, which should ensure their future.

Anyone wishing to stand for the board should be prepared to say why they should be elected and what skills they bring.

Ideally, experience/expertise is needed in the areas of fundraising and financial management.

The agenda for Tuesday’s meeting is as follows:

Welcome from Alan Turvey.

Where are we now, from CEO David Knight.

Presentation from James Mathie of Supporters Direct on Basingstoke Town being a Community Owned club plus question and answer session.

The election of three people to serve on the new board.

Financial challenges and support for fund raising initiatives from Steve Williams.

Any other business.
