MFC Popley under-10s finished their season in great style as they won the Peter Houseman Youth League Plate, after a thrilling penalty shoot-out against Chineham Tigers Amber.

In a tight final which saw the team’s play 25 minutes each way.

MFC Popley were the first to score from Alfie Lear in the first half.

After the break, Chineham replied with an equaliser so this meant the game was decided on penalties.

Popley’s goalkeeper Hafidjiou Sow was superb in the shoot-out as he was only beaten once.

Dan Mills scored the first Popley penalty and then Brooklyn Gilbert converted their winning penalty as they won the final.

A delighted MFC Popley coach Craig Punter said: “Both were fantastic teams and played a fantastic game.”
