HARTLEY Wintney made the short trip to Camberley for the penultimate game of the season and returned 3-2 winners.

The hosts sportingly applauded the Row onto the pitch before the match.

The match proved to be a game of two halves.

The first half was end of season fayre with countless misplaced passes by both sides. The second turned out to be entertaining and exciting.

The first half produced little action. The nearest the Krooners came was on ten minutes when a cross from Chris Evans was returned across the face of the Hartley goal by Elliott Amadieu and Steve Noakes attempted interception saw the ball hit the post.

The Row had a good spell just before the interval. First on 41 minutes Luke Perkins managed to force his way through but his shot under pressure lacked power and was saved by Stuart Norman.

Shortly afterwards Steve Noakes headed past when well placed. Then on the stroke of half time a Steve Noakes throw in caused an almighty scramble around the Krooners goal mouth and Luke Perkins was unable to force the ball home from almost on the goal line.

Hartley started strongly in the second half and on 51 minutes went ahead. Good work down the right between Jack French and Louie Paget saw the latter deliver a cross.

Sam Argent missed with an attempted overhead kick but the ball ran on to Luke Perkins who fired home on the half volley.

The lead lasted just six minutes. The Krooners forced a corner on the left and an accurate delivery by Adam Wareham found the unmarked head of 17-year-old striker Jake Wilson who headed home.

Buoyed by the goal Camberley got well on top. On 61 minutes a free-kick from Adam Wareham found Kevin Wynter who shot past.

Then Matt Humphrey went on a long run from defence before his parting shot went across the goal.

On 67 minutes the pressure finally told. Hartley were unable to clear their lines some 25 yards out and lost possession. The ball broke to Jake Wilson who glided past two Hartley defenders before shooting low past Paul Strudley.

Hartley were having to dig deep into resilient tank but things improved with the addition of substitutes Charlie Bath and Marc Vockins.

On 76 minutes a long free kick from youngster James Vass, who was impressive throughout, found the head of Adam New and his header back across goal saw Dean Stow rise high to head over Stuart Norman.

The Row then got on top and several dangerous long throw ins from Vockins caused problems for the home defence. After continuous pressure Harley scored the winner.

A set piece saw Marc Vockins and Steve Noakes combine well to set up Adam New. The youngster with his back to goal turned quickly and fired low into the net (2-3).

The Krooners made a late surge to get on terms but Hartley held on to register league win number 35 for the season.

Both sides will be heartened by the displays of the youngsters.

Full back Ryan Suckling (16) and lively striker Jake Wilson (17) look real prospects for the Krooners. For Harley James Vass and Charlie Bath from the youth squad did not look out of place at this level of football.

Hartley Wintney complete their league winning campaign at home to Walton and Hersham on Saturday.
