HOOK won the Basingstoke A Cup for the third year running with a 4-1 victory over Tadley Calleva A, writes PETER RAYNBIRD.

There were 250 spectators at the Winklebury Football Complex for the final.

The score bears no reflection on the game, although Hook did deserve to win the cup.

Hook led in the third minute, when Ashley Saunders failed to clear a long clearance up field from Kieran Farmer, it appeared to put goalkeeper Gary Harper in two minds and in nipped Andy Parker to go round him and score in the empty net.

Tadley came back strongly with a diving header from Kye Theodore, which went wide, following a good cross from Stephen Burgess, who was industrious all through the game in midfield.

Peter White then headed a good chance over the bar and in the 35th had a great effort blocked on the line and then forced a save from the rebound.

Hook responded before the break, when Dan Mouradian saw his goal bound shot deflected wide.

Then in the 43rd minute James Neville tried a neat lob only for goalkeeper Harper to brilliantly get back and tip it over the bar and just before the break a shot from Dan Framp hit the post.

Hook started the second half with a series of attacks. In the 53rd minute a free-kick by Farmer found the head of Parker and Harper saved well/ The Tadley goalkeeper was in action soon after to dive at the feet of Mouradian when the was right through.

Apart from a sprawling diving save by Greg Archer just after the hour from 25 yards out from White.

The Tadley threats were rare and in the 76th minute came the second goal. It was Parker with the ball through to Mouradian and he raced clear down the left and beat the advancing Harper.

With five minutes left Hook added a third.

A corner from Dan Framp was headed out by Jamie West, it fell to Dan Mellors on the edge of the penalty area and his rocket shot gave Harper no chance.

On came substitute Jamie Simmons and in the 90th minute another Framp free-kick led to him lobbing the goalkeeper after cleverly reading the offside trap.

Sam Barker had done a good job in holding the dangerous 33 goals Theodore, until added time when his clever lob proved too good for Greg Archer.

The cup and medals were presented by Alan Lipscombe Chairman of the Saturday League, including the man of the match trophy to Dan Mouradian.
